CDCV304: about CDCV304 CLKIN

Part Number: CDCV304

hi dear supporting team,

in customer's p/l, they found 3pcs CDCV304 CLKIN pin issue which pull the input signal voltage to 1V.  below is the waveform they got in normal brd, pls help double check whether such overshoot will cause damage. (from absolute rating in d/s, it seems ok).

  • Assuming the customer is using VDD = 3.3V, the overshoot is not violating the absolute maximum ratings. However, the undershoot is exceeding -500mV for BRD1, which barely violates the absolute maximum ratings. Damage is unlikely for this minor violation, but you will be applying maximum stress to the ESD structure.

    Kind regards,
    Lane

  • hi Lane,

tks for reply! as for the negative voltage, as you could see, when there is no input, the scope probe also show -100mV voltage,  so I think it should be ok.  :)

  • Hi Lane,

one more question, in the d/s, there is no HBM, CDM spec, could you pls help provide it? And BTW, in customer's p/l, there are 3 cases failure, the phenomenon is that the CLKIN is changing from 3.3V to 1Vpp.   in one pcs de-cap chip, they found the power supply PIN6, and unused PIN8 is burned.  because there are 2pcs chip on the brd, all the failure happens on same place, the two chips share the same power supply, but with different input.  so double check with you: if there is overstress on CLKIN, will it cause Vcc and output burned?  tks a lot!

  • Hi Vera,

I will check need to look into the ESD ratings and get back to you.

As for your other questions regarding device failure, please follow up with me offline.

    Kind regards,
    Lane

  • Hi Vera,

    Here are the ESD ratings:

    • HBM: 3.0kV
    • CDM: 1.0kV
    • MM: 300V

We will add the ESD ratings in the next datasheet revision.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
