LMX2594: RF Output Buffer Pullup

Part Number: LMX2594

Hi Team,

My customer is looking at the LMX2594 datasheet, and they have a question about the output pullup configuration of RF output.
On page 59-to-60, "8.1.4 RF Output Buffer Pullup", there are "Table 39. Different Methods for Pullup on Outputs" and "Table 40. Output Pullup Configuration".
When they looked at the "Table 40. Output Pullup Configuration", Inductor value is "Varies with frequency".
Are there any guideline how to select the inductor value?
Should they make it high impedance at the signal frequency used, or is there something else to choose?
Thank you.

Best Regards,

Koshi Ninomiya

  • Hi Ninomiya-san,

We should pick an inductor with sufficient SRF. For example, if the operating freq is 10GHz, the SRF of the inductor should be close to 10GHz if possible.

FYI, we have tried 1nH, 3.3nH and 10nH inductors, their SRF are 14GHz, 6.8GHz and 3.7GHz respectively. These inductors are EOL, I am not going to recommend them to you.
