New Version of CDCE62005 GUI with Loop Filter Tool and Frequency Planner

update 9/02/2011: the version updated on 8/16/11 was working fine on a Win-7 machine, but the EVM driver didn't work, meaning the software could not communicate with the EVM. This new version offers the right driver for each platform.

64-bit operating system (both Win-7 and XP): 8053.CDCE62005_x64_rename_EXE.txt

32-bit operating system (Win-7 and XP): 1234.CDCE62005_x86_rename_EXE.txt

use either the x86 or x64 version depending on your processor/operating system (check under MyComputer/properties).

And the instructions would be the same as the previous versions:

 

1.      If the user doesn’t know what OS is working on then he must right click over “My Computer” and go to properties.

2.      Then when it says what version of windows is in  the system if it says x64 or 64-bit version then the right Installer will be the x64.

3.      When it is a x86 of 32-bit OS the version of windows will not specify anything.

 

 

The latest version of the CDCE62005 GUI comes with the latest integrated loop filter software and frequency planner. These tools make it quick and easy to find the optimum register settings and component values.

    Okay, I think the problem might be that the released GUI is not compatible with Windows 7. Here is a version that solves that issue – run the x64 exectuable. It is still necessary to install the driver after the installation is complete. In Windows7, you can do this by typing ‘view devices and printers’ in the start menu.

    Sorry about the issues you are facing. I should have asked if you were running Windows 7 earlier.

    I noticed somebody was having a similar issue in one of your forums on ti.com.  I am using a 64-bit, Windows 7 OS.  Each SPI register gets defaulted back to FFFFFFFF.  Also, the CD-ROM that came with the EVM only has a Setup application.. seems like there is no installer for the USB driver.

    Hi,

    When you try to install the driver, do you get this window? You should pick ‘Install from a specific location’ and then navigate to the folder “C:\Texas Instruments Inc\CDCE62005 v1.4.4 GUI\Driver” Unfortunately, the installer does not install the USB driver automatically.

    How do I load an .ini file?  In the Device Manager, it is seen as an Unknown Device.  When I try to update it, Windows says it's not able to find the driver software.  I uninstalled the GUI, restarted my computer, then re-installed the GUI with the EVM plugged in and EXT 3.3VCC power.  Didn't seem to help.  Any other suggestions?

    Hi

    The two boxes need to be checked on the main GUI, so try this first to see if it helps. Once the boxes are checked, you should be able to load the ini file.

    If the USB driver is still not communicating, you should update the driver and browse to the ‘Driver’ folder under the GUI folder. I think it is safe to ignore the EEPROM error message for now – the GUI is giving a false error message since the PC is not yet communicating with the EVM.

    Thanks for the help.  No, I am not able to see the desired output on a scope.  After changing those settings you provided (wasn't able to find the Ports), all the frequencies in the GUI were set to the correct values.  Neither box is checked on the main GUI (Enable EVM Power/ Enable Auto-Update Timer).  No, the USB driver does not seem to be communicating with the EVM.  Also, it seems as though the EEPROM has been locked since first getting started because the same error message (Error while unlocking EEPROM) shows up when I try to unlock it via Tools -> Unlock EEPROM.

    I'm trying to stay away from  external components for now, and am basically working on getting the EVM to communicate with the GUI.

    Are you able to see the desired output on a scope? If not, can you try loading this setup file into the GUI? Also, do you have both boxes checked on the main GUI? Is the USB driver recognizing the EVM?

    If the only issue is with the EEPROM, is it possible that it was written locked? Once it is locked, it cannot be overwritten.

    Hi,

    I am attempting to program the CDCE62005evm with CDCE62005 EVM Software v1.4.4 and am running into quite a few errors.  My setup is as follows:  using the module's on-board 25MHz XTAL oscillator, powering with 3.3V via adjustable power supply, SPI interface via USB, and connecting a DCA to YP0/YN0 to measure jitter.  The output buffer type is LVPECL at 500MHz.  My main issue is not being able to Unlock EEPROM, Write to EEPROM Unlocked/Locked, or Download firmware to EVM in the GUI.

    Any prompt help is greatly appreciated.
