LMX2592EVM: Phase Noise Issue

Part Number: LMX2592EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2592

My customer is using the LMX2592 and cannot obtain the same phase noise plots as shown in the data sheet. He is using the EVM and used the onboard oscillator. Here are his comments:

I got an EVAL Board for LMX2592. When I evaluated the LMX2592, I found that the LMX2592 does not meet the phase noise spec.

Shown below are the TICS Pro setup.

The measured phase noise at 6 G, and the application phase noise curve at 6G.

While the measured integrated phase noise is -46.53 dBc/19.69 MHz, the application curve shows that the integrated phase noise is -57.54 dBc/19.69 MHz.

I explained that the User's Guide states that the phase noise of the input signal must be -150dBc/Hz at 10kHz. The onboard oscillator is only -134dBc/Hz. Can you tell me what oscillator and VCXO were used to produce the data sheet graph of phase noise? The customer would like to be able to recreate this and be able to verify the specifications in his testing.

Thanks for your help with this!
