Linux/ADS7828: device driver for ADS7838

Hi Team,

We are using ADS7828E ADC for our custom board . the driver for ADS7828 is already present in the Linux kernel.

our custom board is having intel E3845 processor which is based on x86 architecture. Now when we connect ADC pins to the E3845 processor ,the GPIO pin information where we need to add so that ADC driver can work properly.

Hello,

The Linux driver you've located should provide a base for you to extend and modify based on your processors differentiation. Please check with the rest of the Linux community to see if anyone else has already extended the driver for the same implementation you’re using.

Hello,

You will need to connect the I2C - SCL & SDA pins (Pins 14 & 15) of the ADS7828 to the pins you configure to the the I2C port of the E3845.

Thanks for the information.

I want to know in Linux kernel where we need to add the ADC pins information(I know for arm we are adding hardware information in .dts file ) but for x86 architecture where we need to add the hardware information.

We are not experts in the x86 architecture and we can't provide the level of support that you're asking for. Please check with the rest of the Linux community to see if anyone else has already extended the driver for the same x86 device that you’re using.
