ADS1278: Maximum SPI clock frequency

Hi,

We are using ADS1278 with fclk about 1MHz. ADS1278 is connected to a micro-controller using the SPI connection. We run the SPI clock at 4MHz and we can retrieve samples with no issue so far. However, the ADS1278 datasheet specifies that for "best performance", SPI clock must not run faster than fclk. I would appreciate a clarification on the maximum SPI clock frequency for this component.

Hi Sina,

Sorry about that, I didn't notice that the thread was archived.

In order to guarantee performance of the device the minimum SCLK should be the same period as the modulator clock. Your setup may not work under all conditions and it is not recommended to operate the device in this manor. Doing so is clearly in violation of the datasheet specification.
