TSW1400EVM:TSW1400EVM+ADC3484EVM

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

hi TI~

I am having trouble with the TSW1400EVM+ADC3484EVM, please provide help, thank you!

Question 1:

When using the TSW1400EVM+DAC3484EVM,I uses the data file from the HSDC Pro(\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\Test Files\xxx.tsw) to test. It's OK.

However, after the data collected by our device AD9361 is stored, the data of AD9361 is converted by MATLAB and make the data format  is the same with the HSDC Pro data file.

when  the data file loaded into the High Speed Data Converter Pro GUI tool, it was found that the waveform displayed in the Frequency Domain is inconsistent with the spectrum we have drawn using MATLAB. And the AD9361 data transmitted from the DAC3484 is not monitored by the Agilent spectrum analyzer.

I would like to ask: In the data loaded process, whether the data format has been changed in the High Speed Data Converter Pro GUI. If it has not changed, please help us analyze the reason. The figure below shows the performance of the AD9361 data in MATLAB and High Speed Data Converter Pro GUI.

Ps: AD9361 data sampling rate is 61.44MSPS, signal bandwidth is 15MHz

Question 2:
We use the tools in the TSW1400 Pattern Generators to generate LTE data sampling rate of 61.44MHz and bandwidth of 10MHz TM1.1 data.

I would like to ask: Why is the spectrogram obtained when doing FFT in MATLAB and the spectrum displayed in TSW1400 Pattern Generators inconsistent?

The figure below shows the spectrum performance in the TSW1400 Pattern Generators and the spectral representation of the data in the MATLAB spectrum.

Looking forward to reply,thank you!

  • Hi user
We have received your questions and are reviewing the information. One of our ADC specialists will provide a more detailed response soon.
    Best regards,

  • Hi Jim

    First,thanks for your reading.

Then, please make sure your specialists already know this. And reply as soon as possible.

    Best wishes!

    Ma Wen

  • Hi Ma Wen,

I see that you are using the DAC3484EVM and TSW1400EVM, but, just to clear, are you also using a TI ADC? Also, which file are you using here?

If you can share the DAC clock frequency, that would be helpful. It looks like these test files are not using the data rate of 61.44 MHz, unless you are using interpolation on the DAC3484?

Have you been able to look at the DAC3484EVM output on a spectrum analyzer?

For your second question, do you know how you are windowing the data as you read it into your ADC? From you HSDC Pro screenshot showing the DAC waveform,

it looks like you are using the Hanning window. Can you please try a rectangular window and a blackman window? Do you know how large the FFT of the ADC is? Is this the same as the DAC waveform?

    Best Regards,

    Dan

  • Hi Dan

I don't think you fully understand my problem.

First, I said that I used these test files for testing, and the results showed no problem.

But,when I load the data file that I  got from the AD9361( this AD is ADI AD ,not TI AD. And the data rate is 61.44Msps) into the HSDC Pro ,the Spectrum showed in the Frequency Domain of HSDC Pro is Inconsistent with the Spectrum that I got from MATLAB. why?

Second , I got the data file from "TSW1400 Pattern Generators/TSW1400_LTE.exe" ,set the parameter Freq is 61.44MHz,BW is 10MHz . I load this data file into MATLAB  and want to get the Spectrum of this data. The MATLAB showed the result is inconsistent with the result showed in the TSW1400_LTE.exe.These pictures are shown when I first asked questions.why?

    Best Regards,

    Ma Wen

  • Hi Brock,

Thanks for your reply, aiming at Wen's latest reply, do you have comments here, or if need any other info pls let us know.
  • Hi Leo Zhao and Ma Wen,

I am unable to see the difference between the pattern generator output, and how HSDC Pro interprets the output.

Have you verified that the DAC3848EVM is outputing the waveform correctly with a spectrum analyzer? I am not certain how your data capture system operates, but I can try to help you ensure that the TI DAC3484EVM is outputting the correct waveform.

What configuration is being used for the DAC3484EVM?

    Best Regards,

    Dan
