ADC12D1800: Plots for ADC12D1800CIUT for 1.5-2.5GHz RF input with 2.7Ghz Sampling clock

Hi Ti,

We are using ADC12D1800CIUT ADC for our direct sampling application. Here we will be bandpass sampling 1.5 to 2.5GHz RF input with 2.7GHz Sampling clock.

Before going further in our design, we need to see ADC12D1800CIUT performance for this RF input with 2.7GHz sampling clock.

Can you please provide the Plots of ADC with 1.5-2.5GHz RF input?

Hi Pradeep
The ADC12D1800CIUT can operate with clock frequencies up to 1800 MHz.
In 2 input mode the sample rate can be up to 1800 MS/s. In DES mode the sample rate can be up to 2x 1800MSPS = 3600 MS/s. I assume you plan to sample in DES mode with Fclk = 1350 MHz, so the sample rate will be 2.7 GS/s. Is that correct?

Hi Jim,

Yes you are absolutely correct. We are operating in DESI mode. We wanted to see the plots of 1.5-2.5GHz RF for DESI configuration.

We need one more clarification.

This data is recorded on ADC12D1800RB eval board.

Will the same performance can be observed with ADC12D1800CIUT ADC?

What is the difference between ADC12D1800CIUT and ADC12D1800RF ADC?

Can we use ADC12D1800CIUT for our application?

Hi Pradeep
ADC12D1800RB is the reference board for/containing the ADC12D1800CIUT ADC device. The measured performance is typical for that ADC device.
The ADC12D1800RFIUT is similar but has somewhat improved linearity at high input frequencies. It also has some additional features. If the performance measured is good enough I recommend using the nonRF suffix device. If you need better performance you could switch to the RF suffix device. They are pin compatible but have slightly different register maps.
