MSC1210Y5: Need more memory

Part Number: MSC1210Y5
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSC1210

Hello,

We have quite old design with MSC1210Y5 and our application grows up, pushing memory capacity to maximum.

This part is the biggest one of the familly.

Is there an other family with more memory?

Ideally, with compatible code and tools and also the same package (no changes to PCB).

  • Hi Erwan,

Welcome to the E2E forum!  You have not stated what form of memory you need.  There is FLASH program memory, data memory (SRAM) and memory used for the Special Function Registers (SFR).  The MSC1210Y5 has 32k of FLASH memory that is primarily used as program memory, but can be subdivided for both program and data.  The data memory in this case will have slower access times than SRAM.  The 32k device (Y5) is the maximum on chip FLASH for this device family.

The maximum amount of addressable memory is 64k due to the 8052 architecture.  Additional memory can be used if provided externally, which would unfortunately require a PCB revision to accommodate the additional memory device.

Take a look at section 2 of the MSC1210 user's guide for more info:
