ADS1299: Multiple ADS1299 in Daisy Chain

Part Number: ADS1299

Hello All,

I'am planning to use 3 ADS1299 for my 24 Channel EEG project. Currently I'am designing the PCB and I wanted to clear my doubt regarding Daisy Chain Connection.

1st Device CLKSEL is tied to HIGH(DVDD) to use internal Clock Source. The CLKSEL pin of 2nd & 3rd Device is tied to GND to keep it LOW. The CLK Pin of 1st Device is tied to CLK Pin of 2nd & 3rd Device to act as clock source.

DAISY_IN of 1st Device is Connected to DOUT of Second Device. Now, to get the data of the 3rd Device Should I connect the DOUT of 3rd Device to DAISY_IN OF 2nd Device? Iam confused about connections for DOUT & DAISY_IN Pin for the 3rd Device?

Kindly help!

  • Hello Sumit,

    Thank you for your post.

In addition to the CLKSEL pin, you must also configure the CLK_EN bit in the CONFIG1 register. This bit must be set to 1 in order to output the internal oscillator on the CLK pin. You can verify that the clock from Device 1 is being supplied to the other devices by probing their respective CLK pins.

Yes, DOUT of Device 3 will be connected to DAISY_IN of Device 2. All ADS1299 devices in the daisy-chain (after the first one) must connect their DOUT pin to the DAISY_IN pin of the ahead of it. The last device in the daisy-chain should connect the DAISY_IN pin to ground.

    Best regards,
