DAC38J82: m parameter while using quadrature modulation

Part Number: DAC38J82

m is the number of converters per device in terms of JESD204B standard. I'm using complex mixer as a digital quadrature modulator with a real output by using only its Iout output (and ignoring Qout). So actually I'm using only one converter. Does it mean that m = 1 in my case? Or still m = 2

  • Art,

The "M" value corresponds to the JESD data not the actual number of DAC's used. In your case, M would be 2 with one converter assigned as the I data coming into the part and the other converter the Q data. After the data is processed, it will be routed only to one DAC (IOUT path), and you would sleep the other DAC.
