then I click the "continue" botton, the error shows again

How to continue to use the GUI

  • Hi,

    Thanks for using AFE5809EVM.

We will reply to your question very soon.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • Hi,

    How are you?

Because AFE5809EVM and TSW1400 Capture Card are using FTDI chips

which both are connecting to your computer's USB connectors.

When you get the error messages coming from FTDI,

that could be due to your PC's USB connections are not succeed.

if you want to search for driver:D2XX Drivers

    https://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm

also you can use the following to help you check your PC is connected to both USB connections correctly or not.

    by loading and using FT_PROG

    https://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Utilities.htm

    Thank you!

  • Thank you for your answer. I have already try to update the driver: D2XX Drivers, but it still can not work.

The PC is connected to both USB correctly.

I don't know how to do now.Can you please give me more information about this problem?

  • Hi,

Can you please try installing FT_PROG utility to confirm if the AFE5809 EVM and TSW1400 EVM is getting recognized by the PC.

After installing the utility, Please click on the search icon to enumerate the devices.

You must see two devices getting populated.

Can you please send us screenshots of

    1.  Error Popup in the GUI
    2. FT_Prog after population of devices

    Regards,

    DP

  • Hi,

After you have installed these two software (drivers),

you need to re-startup your PC (before you are trying to run these two software).

    After you re-boot your computer:

    1) Please check your D2XX Drivers installation working or not

by checking your PC can detect "USB Serial Converter A and B and C and D" as below:

Your PC must show as below:

    2) Also after you have installed FT_Prog software,

your computer can tell you which USB is connected to

(for example, the following shows your PC is connecting TSW1400 Board and AFE5809EVM board)

(and In order to make your Board running on your PC, First, your PC must be able to detect them.)

    Thank you!

  • Hi
The following picture is the screenshots of
    1.  Error Popup in the GUI
    2. FT_Prog after population of devices

click the ‘’continue“” button, the following error shows
The PC is already recognized  the  AFE5809 EVM and TSW1400 EVM
    thanks!
    best regards
    Jason
  • Hi,

First looks like both of your AFE5809EVM  and TSW1400 Board FTDI chips never programmed yet.

This could not be happened, but I need to ask our group engineer if this is possible or not.

Second, you mention you are using AFE5809EVM but looks like the GUI is loaded for AFE5807EVM.

    This may not work either.

Could you please look at the AFE5809 User's Guide from the TI website?

    Thank you!

  • Hi

I checked it carefully, found that our version of the software was indeed wrong.

I downloaded the correct software and installed it on my computer,But it still runs

with errors,Attached is the new error information

I wonder if our board is broken

    How do I fix it?

Do you have after-sales support in China?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi,

Please upload these two attached ".XML" files (one for AFE5809EVM, the other one for TSW1400)

to your FT_Prob and then Program each one (one by one) onto each FTDI chips of  AFE5809EVM and TSW1400.

    Please try it.

    Thank you!

  • Hi

Thank you very much for your support, the.xml file helped me a lot.Now I can connect to the PC with AFE5809EVM GUI.

But I have another question,My application is ultrasonic signal reception, but there is no instruction in the user's manual

I don't know how to set it,Is there a more detailed explanation here,Or do you have any relevant training services in China?

    Thanks

    Jason

  • Hi,

Thank you for using AFE5809 device.

  • Hello

I have received the information you sent, thank you!We are still a little confused in the use of the board.

After the AFE5809EVM is normally powered and the software is opened, the main chip, namely AFE5809,

is very hot. After looking at the current of the power supply, there is more than 1A, I want to ask whether this

    is a normal phenomenon?

  • Hi,

    Yes, that is possible.

Because in the board, its power covers more than device itself only.

also it can depend on how many channels you are using.

So for the device's power consumption, please refer to the datasheet page 15 and page 16.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • Hi

We tried to use the signal generator to generate a sine wave signal and add it to the CH1 of AFE5809EVM,

and then to capture the signal on the software interface of TSW1400, but we felt that the signal captured was abnormal.

We set up the following on the GUI of AFE5809,Are there any problems up here

  • Hi,

    How are you?

Looks like on your Tek signal generator,

could you please change using its "Burse" button

    and please press "Continuous" button?

    Hope this can help.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • I tried hitting the "continue" button, but still got the same result. Some of the buttons in the AFE5809EVM GUI, all by default?Or are there places that require special Settings?

  • Hi,

    Before going to more details,

could you please double check the following checking?

    Thank you.

    1) Please check on your Tek signal generator

on its Channel BNC Output connector, there is a "On" button.

Can you make sure it is turned on (this "On" button should be "Light ON")

If not, please press this button to make it ON.

    2) Please check your TSW1400 board and

    see if All the LED lights (D2, D3, D4, D5, D7, D8, D9) are ON except D6 (yellow LED) = OFF.

We have checked on our board system and AFE5809EVM and TSW1400 capture board

    both are working fine.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Chen

  • Hi

1.Before sending you an email for consultation, we have repeatedly confirmed the signal sent by the signal generator and detected the output signal with an oscilloscope. The signal is normal.

    2.The LED status of TSW1400 is also normal,All the LED lights (D2, D3, D4, D5, D7, D8, D9) are ON except D6 (yellow LED) = OFF.

We did the following test again yesterday.

1.After the board of AFE5809EVM is power on,we check  the 3, 4, 11 and 12 pins of the chip "COCM7005RGZ"  with the oscilloscope , and the clock output with the frequency of 5M can be detected. However, after launch the 5809 GUI, we detected  these pins again, there is no signal out.We want to know if this is normal

2.Could you please send me an executable "CMD File "and we will execute it directly? This "CMD File" can be saved according to your normal Settings. We want to use this method to verify whether our board is normal under the same setting conditions and the same hardware conditions.Or you can send me a screenshot of each page of your 5809 GUI setup?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Thanks for confirming with us your LEDs are ON/OFF correctly on the TSW1400 Board.

As you request, here is our "software setup" CMD File (txt file) attached.

Also please must firmly confirm the following Jumpers (shown on AFE5809EVM User's Guide SLOU338A)

on Page 3  Figure 1 (shown total =12 Jumper settings).

They all must be connected correctly as shown on Page 3 (Figure 1).

Also please double confirm on the Figure 2 (Page 4) with your \afe5809EVM,

because you are using Channel 1 right now,

therefore please don't follow this SMA (J7) for your Analog Input Signal.

In your case, you need to connect your input signal on SMA (J1) for your Analog Input Signal.

    Please double check it.

    Thank you!

  • Hi

We bought a new AFE5809 board, turned on the electricity to open the GUI, everything can run normally,

so we think our original board should be broken.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Sorry, we just want to confirm with you what is going on from the EVM you ordered.

Therefore, according to your reply, the AFE5809EVM board after the messages from our suggestion

    still is not working. Right?

    Thank you!

  • Hi

The local after-sale service said they would replace the new board for us, thank you!

But now we have a new problem in the application. We want to capture data with TSW1400 for a long time,

but we can only catch 1.6ms.Is there any way to grab data above 2s?Is it possible to modify the program of

the upper computer to achieve it?If it is possible,Can you provide the source code for the existing GUI?

    looking forward to your reply!

    my email address:jason_huang@sileadinc.com
