Hello: We've been engaging a customer on the PCM3168A (and TI DSP). We couldn't find an eval board. I have an old EVM for a non “A” PCM3168 (daughtercard “DEM-PCM3168DAC”), and the motherboard (“DEM-DAI/ASDAC_91/93”) has a Centronics (parallel) connection on it. Will TI still support this EVM, or should the cutomer not use it? (It doesn’t have the USB connection that the new one does, and as it is very old, I’m hesitant to have the customer develop with it.)
Otherwise, though, can TI loan us a new version PCM3168A EVM to us for this customer? I need to know whom to talk to about that.
regards, G Biner, Arrow LA
Hi, George,
Unfortunately, these EVMs are no longer available, and I don't even have one!
As for the parallel port board, yeah, we're not going to be able to do much with that. XP locked down the parallel port, pretty much making that board obsolete. Of course, the customer could provide their own I2C (from an Aardvaaaark or their own micro or whatever), but that might be too much trouble.
Sorry we can't be more helpful here, George.
