Win7 driver for the USB-MODEVM Interface Board

Has anyone been able to make the USB-MODEVM driver to work under Win7 ?

I have problem with "Blue screen" when the driver is installing.

Windows does not ask for the driver, it finds one itself after the USB-cable is inserted.

The communication to PurePath and CS is working, but no MODEVM  soundcards adds to windows list of soundcard (no driver is activated for the device in the device manager, if I active it crashes again)

(Firmware ver. 2.02)

  • Mikael,

The attached FW version (V2.03) is compatible with Windows Vista / Windows 7 for basic functionality. To program the firmware, follow the instructions on the PurePath Studio documentation.

AIC3254 CS has been tested to work in Windows 7. I'm not sure about PurePath Studio -- please give us your feedback on how it works.

  • That driver really made my life more simple under Win7 [:D]

At least the example with the volumecontrol works in Purepath + Win7 @ 44.1 kHz

  • What about Win7 64-bit ?

I tried to install PurePath & CS under Win7 Pro 64-bit as well, but CS looks like this (Something really importent is missing in the middle)

and PP looks like this during startup

Is it a 64-bit problem or something else?

  • Mikael,

AIC3254 CS must be executed as administrator in order to properly work (i.e. right click and select Run as Administrator). At this moment we have not tested PurePath GDE with Win7 64-bit.

  • Question about the EEPROM writer and Windows.

I have som problems when chaning the sampling rate in CS together with Windows understanding of the change in the sampling freq. (32-bit Win7)

For an example; first I load the 44.1 kHz mode in CS, and windows detects it as a sound card running at 44.1 kHz when newinstalled. Everything works fine, and it works as a soundcard in Windows if I load the typical configuration file for it.

Second I change the sampling rate to 8 kHz in CS based on the .bin-file; what happens now is that windows cannot change the samplingrate in the advanced audio-settings for sound (In the contol panel), and an error is repored if I start some type of soundgenerating program running in 8 kHz.

A (working) workaround is to unistall the sound-driver in windows, thereafter detach the USB cable and connect it again. The driver will once again be installed, but now it will be installed for the last chosen 8 kHz mode, and Windows will show it as a 8 kHz device.

Is it the (only) way to do it? For an example, if you try to run the AEC code without adjusting the windows driver to adapt to 8 kHz, you will hear something, but´s it's mostly glitches and other unwanted stuff.

  • Mikael,

It is best if the EVM USB cable is re-connected after programming the firmware. This way we can ensure that the sampling rate registered by Windows is in fact the sampling rate specified in the descriptors of the USB controller.

  • I got CS to run by setting all the application files to XP compatable. But that did not work for the GDE.

  • Hi Tom,

The PurePath Studio GDE for Portable Audio is currently not compatible with Windows 7 / Visa.

  • Does TI plan to support these platform in near future?

Did anyone try some Virtual Machine in order to get Purepath working?

I'm going to try VMWARE server ...

    Thanks,

    Dmitry

  • Hi Dmitry,

PurePath Studio for miniDSP is now compatible with Windows 7.

  • It is now supported in Win7. You can find the driver here: www.ti.com/.../slac521.
