TLV320AIC3254 tripping out

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3254

I have been using the TLV320AIC3254 quite successfully for a while now. However, in Bypass Mode (and probably all mode) I have noticed that the device stops working and goes into what I assume is power down (<1mA) after about 10 minutes. I have reduced the audio levels both internally (via the registers and externally) to next to nothing without success.

IO_Vdd = 1.8v or 3V3
AVdd = 1.8V
DVdd = 1.8V
lDO_IN = O/C

The total current consumption of the device (when working normally) = 7.62mA.

I have tried all sorts of PSU configuration with out change.

Re-programming the registers resets the device.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hello,

    We will look into this for you and try to find an answer.

    In the meantime, have you noticed any event the makes it shut down predictably? You mentioned bypass mode but does it such down in the middle of normal use? This can be any number of issues so the more information you can give on the problem the more successful we can be in fixing your issue.

    Regards,

    -Matt

  • Hello Howard,

    I had a few follow up questions to try to help narrow this down:

    1) Are you currently working with an EVM or with a custom board?

    2) can you guarantee that all of your power rails are stable throughout the 10 minutes of operation? Are there any spikes in the rails?

    3) Do you have the device current limit or shutdown with over current? (page 1 register 11)

    4) Do you have any over current flags being set?

    With this information we can better assist you in fining a route cause,

    Please let me know if you need anything else,

    Nate
