Maximum Vrms supported by DAC output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3120

What is the maximum Vrms voltage swing that the analog line driver output of DAC (TLV320DAC3120) can support? The datasheet gives the Vrms of the lineout driver at 0db gain as 0.707v. But I require the maximum Vrms at maximum gain value supported by DAC TLV320DAC3120.

  • Hi Vigneshwaran,

The gain for the line out is meant to increase a signal that outputs lower than .707 Vrms to get up to .707 Vrms. Once you get above .707 Vrms you will begin to clip before you get near .9 Vrms. As the data sheet says for the line out driver, it is characterized to work up to .707 Vrms and that is what we recommend as the use case.
