TLV320DAC3101 - powers turn on sequence

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3101

Hi all,

Would you mind if we ask TLV320DAC3101?

<Q1>
Is there the starting sequence(restriction) of each power(AVDD, HPVDD, DVDD, IOVDD, SPLVDD) or not?
For Example) 1: AVDD 2: HPVDD, , , , , , ,  5: SPLVDD
The data sheet P47 shows followings;
Define starting point:
(a) Power up applicable external power supplies
(b) Set register page to 0
We'd like to know about the sequence of  "(a)".

<Q2>
How much of the time is it required between the starting sequence(restriction) of each power and the release of RESET?
(After all of the power turning on, until the reset will be released, is it required some wait time?)

<Q3>
How much of the time is it required between the release of RESET and the start of I2C control?
(After the release of RESET, from when is it able to start I2C control? Is it required some wait time after the release of RESET?
 1ms?(like as the datasheet shows Device Start-Up Lockout Times)

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi team,

    We contributed above questions.
    We guess that your team are so busy. But could you let know us reply about these?

  • A1: You'll have to power up all supplies within a few ms of each other. It is important to have all supplies up and stable before you release the reset signal. Do not turn off select supplies to save power. This must be done through register writes or you'll have to turn off all supplies (not just a few).

    A2: The reset signal must be asserted (/RESET = 0) for at least 10ns after the supplies are up.

    A3: You must wait 1ms after a reset (either SW or HW) before reading or writing registers DAC coefficient registers or powering up any blocks within the codec (I recommend waiting 1ms before reading or writing any registers in general).

  • Hi Hartl san,

    Thank you for your reply!
    We got it!
