TLV320AIC3100 DAC mono support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3100

Dear TI,

We are using TLV320AIC3100 Codec for one of our application. As per datasheet it has a stereo DAC. As we can control headphone output lines (HPL and HPR)  individually, Can we configure it to mono by disabling either HPL or HPR line. If it is possible then is it fine if we leave the disabled headphone line open (NC).

Regards,

Sateesh

  • You can configure the DAC data for mono mix in P0R63, bit D5-D4: 11 = left channel DAC data = LR mono mix. If you route the output of the left DAC to the left HP output, then you get a mono mix on the left HP output. You can leave the right HP output disconnected.

  • We are planning to connect this headphone line to a 16ohm or 32ohm ear speaker. So the speaker positive line will be connected to one of the DAC output (In this case left) and speaker negative line will be connected to HPVSS to provide the return ground path. Is it fine ? or do we need to take care of anything else ?
