Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately we do not have a solution that can take in 3 I2S signals and convert them to one S/PDIF signal.

Hi Zoe,

We do have devices such as the PCM9211, that can take in 3 separate I2S signals, and MUX them to a SPDIF signal, but only one I2S signal at a time. Is this what that customer is looking for?

Hi Zoe,

for multichannel, up to 8-channels, you can use ADAT - SPDIF is just a single channel solution.

Hi Zoe,

It is possible to get multiple channels over SPDIF with different compression algorithms, such as Dolby, which many of our parts can detect, but are not able to decode. This means that I2S data would still be able to be produced by our part from the SPDIF, but needs to be decoded. To decode the Dobly audio over SPDIF, you would need to use a DSP that can decode the I2S data into the separate channels. This would be the same with any other algorithm that would compress multiple channels into 1 SPDIF stream.
