Can we play compressed audio file (.wav file) by PCM3060

Dear Sir, Madam,

I want to play compressed audio files( which were stored in external flash memory) through micro-controller by using PCM3060. Microcontroller send digital data through I2S and control configuration through I2C. Is PCM3060 suitable for my application or not?

Is it capable  of playing compressed audio files (.wav file etc) ?

    Hi Sachin,

    The PCM3060 is capable of playing linear PCM data, if you would like to be able to send μ-law or A-law compressed audio then you can look at the TLV320AIC parts, such as the TLV320AIC3254, which is capable of playing or recording audio in μ-law or A-law compression.

    If you are talking about compression such as mp3, this must be converted to PCM in an external processor.
