Hi!

I am considering using the TLV320DAC3100 to drive the inputs to a speaker amp via AC coupling.

I need to know what the peak-to-peak voltage at the speaker output of the 3100 device would be if it was driving into a 20k ohm load (i.e. the input resistance of the Amp plus the capacitor in series are roughly 20k).

The input to the Amp needs to be at least 3.6 Vp-p.

However, the charts on the datasheet do not indicate if the 3100 can produce this output voltage.

Can someone please clarify this?

Any recommendation here will be most appreciated!

For a 0dB FS gain, the DAC3100 will put out 2Vpp (0.707Vrms). The line out puts can apply up to 9dB gain but if you use a FS signal, you'll clip the signal with this gain. With a CM of 1.65V, 3.6Vpp is not possible (because 1.65V - 3.6/2 V is <0).

Do you have any recommendations on a part that may integrate the DAC3100 and the speaker amplifier?

If not, do you have any recommendations about how I can achieve 3.6Vpp at the input to my speaker amp with my design?

Can you confirm that the DAC outputs will clip above 2Vpp when driving a high impedance?

Also, is there another DAC that would provide more voltage swing than 2Vpp at its output?

They will clip hard once they hit GND and the supply rail. They'll start showing some non-linearity once they get within a few mV.
We have digital input class-D amps that produce larger amplitudes but those are designed for speaker loads and may be overkill for your app.
