TLV320AIC3204 configuration for I2S MIcrophone

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204

I have the evaluation board for the TLV320AIC3204, and am trying to connect an I2S microphone to the serial audio interface and play the audio through the headphones. The mic takes the BCLK and WCLK signals as inputs, and returns the serial data (SD).  I have the BCLK (P22.3) and WCLK (P22.5) pins of the TLV configured as outputs and can see the proper signals coming out, and I can see the SD audio data coming from the mic when it is not connected to DIN (P22.11), but when I connect it, the signal goes away.  Can someone explain the proper configuration or point me to a script in which the I2S interface acts as a master, but the DIN pin is used for the audio data?

I have made this mic work fine when directly connected to the I2S interface of an ARM micro, but this TLV codec is confusing me.  It's unfortunate that the User Guide is so lacking in examples.
