About FM Tuner connection of TLV320AIC3105

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3105

Dear Sirs

We need to use the FM tuner(Si4703) connecting with TLV320AIC3105(AUDIO codec).

Does the Si4703 LOUT/ROUT directly connect to the 0.47uF in front of MIC2L/MIC2R ? Thanks

  • Hi Nat,

The TLV320AIC3105 generates a DC level when the ADC is turned on. If the capacitors are removed, the input signal must have a dc level to avoid reach the maximum ratings. It seems that the Si4703 FM tuner may be capacitively summed with another device as the 4.10. Audio Output Summation Section explains. So, it should not be a problem. However, I suggest to use the capacitors if the high-Z enable bit is not enabled. If the capacitors are not used, you must be sure that the maximum ratings are respected.

I hope this helps you. If you still have questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Dear Luis

    Thank you for your support.

The FM chip(Si4703) has the antenna pin. Could you give me the suggestion ? Thanks !

    1. We connect the HPLCOM/HPRCOM to the headphone shield and FM antenna pin together. Is it OK. ?

    2. Or just tied HPLCOM/HPRCOM to AGND,  tied the headphone shield and FM antenna pin together(not connecting to AGND) ?

  • Hi Nat,

Regarding your schematic, I noticed that you're configuring the stereo headphone outputs in AC-Coupled configuration. Please see the following picture for details:

So, it is not necessary to connect HPRCOM and HPLCOM.

Then, regarding the antenna connection, the document that you attached before (Si4702-03-C19-1.pdf) has some reference resources in page 43. The document AN231 (Si4700/01/02/03 Headphone and Antenna Interface) seems to explain how to connect the antenna pin to the HP jack. Please see the 4. Si4700/01 Schematic Guidelines for details.

I hope this helps you. If you still have questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,
