AIC3100 CLASS D AMP

Is there a way to both mute the class D amplifier and set it to high impedance just like the speaker line? When the class D line is idle (no audio stimulus) and muted (page 1, register 42, bit d2 = 0) I am measuring 13.610mA in series with the SPKVDD (W5 on TLV320AIC3100EVM-U).

One more thing to point out is using the  slac366a - codec control software. I don't see a menu option to mute the class D amp. Instead I have to go to the register inspector to manipulate the mute control. Is there an updated file/software to use besides slac366a?

  • Hi, Gelmont,

You're right. The codec control software doesn't have a menu to mute/power on-off the class-d amplifier. It must be controlled by the register inspector as you already mentioned.

The only way to reduce the power consumption is by bit D7 in register 32 (page 1). It is used to power on/off the class-D driver.

    Best regards,
