PCM1807 FOR NEW AUDIO DESIGN

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1807

Hi, we r planning to design a new audio card with stereo ADC and DAC. With DAC supporting non standard or fractional sampling rates. We r planning to use 1807 as ADC and 3101 as DAC. We require the chips to be available till 2025. Olease suggest any alternative part. We are also OK with single device having ADC and DAC feature.

  • Hi Pratheek,

We tend not to EOL devices unless a serious issue occurs. Many of the devices we still produce today have been on the market more than 10 years. As for DAC and ADC choices, the two you have chosen are excellent options, but if you can elaborate more about your application such as number of channels, slave or master, clock source, if any processing is required, and what performance is required, I can can assess which devices would be the best fit.

  • Hi Justin,

    Thanks for the info.

I'm planning for a SBC with Intel processor. The requirement is for stereo in and stereo out. The important requirement  is to support  fractional sample rate , IE non standard. We  will prefer minmal processing in the codec. The SBC is for  required for 10 more years from now.Linux driver support is desirable planning to operate in master mode supporting fs from8k to 96k. I hope I have made my self clear on the requirement. My ideal choice would be PC codec like flexibility supporting fractional sampling rates.

  • Hi Pratheek,

There is not currently a Linux driver for the PCM1807, but this is a fairly simple part. We are however developing a Linux drive for the PCM186X series, which is a newer ADC that comes in a 2 and 4 channel package. Both devices should be able to fit the application.

  • Hi Justin,

Is it good to continue using 3101 DAC .

Any other part with Linux driver
