I2S to PCM converter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3212

Hi Expert,

I am looking for a converter for I2S to PCM. I think the AIC3212 would be a good choice. But it looks quite expensive, any other choice? Thanks!

  • Hi, Jerry,

The TLV320AIC3212 is the better option for this purpose. This codec supports both protocols (I2S and PCM) and multiple data serial interfaces. These interfaces can be used simultaneously. There are other options such the TLV320AIC326x devices, but since these devices have an internal miniDSP, the cost is more expensive.

Please let me know if you have more questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
  • Hi Jerry,

I use for conversion from I2S to PCM suitable for two DAC chips simple shift-registers circuit with six 74HCT164 chips. This circuit can be used with a little modification for 16, 18, 20, 24 or 32 bit systems. It depend what concrete DAC you want to use. It can be used with PCM1702, PCM1704, AD1851, AD1865 etc...

    Best regards, Pavel

  • Hi Pavel,
It sounds cool. Would you share it to me? (jerry.chu@wpi-group.com)
But I worry about that the PCB space issue, I would recommend the AIC3212 first. Thanks!
