PCM2706C: USB Audio to Speaker

Hi team,

We are working on a design where we have USB audio output coming from our processor. Will the PCM2706C take the USB audio and convert it to analog for us to use with an analog speaker amplifier?

Also, do we have any products that will be able to take USB audio in and drive a speaker directly? We are looking to drive a low power speaker, ~5W.

Hi, Akash,

Yes, the PCM2906C can be used in this application to stream an analog output from USB Audio. Unfortunately we don't have a similar device with an amplifier included, so I would recommend you to take a look to our analog input amplifiers.

Hi Diego Melendez,

Could you clarify the differences between the PCM2704C and the PCM2706C?

It looks like the PCM2706C has SPI control and I2S output while the PCM2704C does not. Is there anything else?

I have both EVMs here on my desk and it appears that both of these devices would be able to convert the USB audio to an analog signal.

Hi, Akash,

For the end-application, both devices can be used to convert USB audio to Analog output. The main differences between these devices are Package, I²S output option and HID controls available.
