Hi all,

I am planning to use TLV320AIC3101, but I am not aware how to program it. Is there any programmer to program the CODEC.

Hi, Tapas,

The TLV320AIC3101 registers are programmed via I2C. You would need a device capable to send I2C commands to the TLV320AIC3101.

We have several evaluation modules that you may use for testing. Our TLV320AIC3101EVM can be used to test all the TLV320AIC3101 functions. This evaluation module has an additional graphical user interface that you may use to easily configure our evaluation module. Please take a look at the following link for details:

Can we use any microcontroller capable of sending I2S signal to TLV320AIC3101 for programming it.

Yes, you can. You would need to use the microcontroller I2C port for register configuration and the I2S port for audio data transmission.

Can I use TLV320AIC3101EVM for programming new TLV320AIC3101 IC, does TI provide programming Socket for it. Can I use Purepath development environment (GUI) to configure TLV320AIC3101 registers .

The TLV320AIC3101EVM is used to evaluate and test the TLV320AIC3101 functions. As mentioned in past posts, the TLV320AIC3101 is programmed by I2C interface. The TLV320AIC3101EVM contains I2C lines than may be connected to external devices. You may connect an external TLV320AIC3101 to these lines in order to configure it in case you cannot program it with a microcontroller.

Regarding your question about PurePath development, this software is designed for audio codecs with programmable miniDSP. Since the TLV320AIC3101 doesn't have miniDSP, it cannot be programmed by this software.

After reading about TI's audio CODEC, I got to know that TLV320AIC3262 is the perfect audio CODEC for my need as it has DSP core which can be programmed. I got to know about TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM module. Using PurePath studio, can we program TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM , also can be program blank TLV320AIC3262 using the TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM .

Hi, Tapas,

It is possible to configure the TLV320AIC3262EVM-U in multiple ways. PurePath Studio can be used to configure the AIC3262 codec and its miniDSP. Additionally, you may program the miniDSP in real-time. The miniDSP coefficients may be modified while the EVM is in use.

Additionally, the EVM can be configured with its CodecControl software ( www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware ). This CodecControl software cannot be used to configure the miniDSP, but it may be used to configure the rest of blocks in a graphical way.

I am not talking about TLV320AIC3262EVM-U ($ 299) as you have mention. I am talking about low cost TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM ($99). Can we use purepath studio with TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM ($99) module.

I apologize for this confusion.

The TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM can be used with PurePath Studio. PurePath Studio is able to configure entirely the EVM. Additionally, the miniDSP can be configured in real-time.

This is the link of TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM, and this can be programmed with purepath studio. Then why TI is providing CODECcontrol and purepath, two different software for same (TLV320AIC3262 USB EVM) module.

Hi, Tapas,

The Codec Control software is used to configure the EVM in a graphical way. This software cannot be used to configure the miniDSP. By other hand, PurePath Studio can be used to configure the entire codec, including the miniDSP.
