PCM5310: External Clock

Part Number: PCM5310

Hello

I want to use a PCM5310 (Audio Codec) combined with a TAS6424-Q1 (Class-D Audio Amplifier). There is no I2S device connected to the PCM5310 who can provide the clock for the internal DAC and ADC.
Can I connect an oscillator to the pin 51 (SCK6, PORT-6 system clock) and leave the other pins of channel 6 open to distribute the clock internally to the ADCs, DACs and outputs (Port1 and 2) as shown in the attached block schematic?

Kind regards,
Christian Ruder

  • Hi, Christian,

I think the application you are describing is possible, you can take SCLK6 and setup the ADCs and DACs as Master to generate LRCK and BCLK internally. The ports of the PCM5310 are very flexible so you should be able to output the internally generated LRCK and BCLK to any of the output ports.
