TLV320AIC3254EVM-K: Problems using the AIC3254 EVM on Windows 7

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254EVM-K
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5766M, TAS6424, TAS5753MD, TAS2555, TAS5733L, TAS5768M, TAS5751M, PCM5242, TLV320AIC3268, TPA6166A2, TAS5754M, PCM5142, TAS5731, TAS5612A

I have had my TLV320AIC3254EVM-K for some time now, the other day there was a power glitch.  The EVM would not work, the only software I have for reloading the EEPROM on the EVM will only run on a Windows XP machine.  I was able to run the sotware on my XP machine and get the EVM working.   But when I connect the USB cable from the EVM to my W7 machine it Blue Screens and complains about USBAUDIO.SYS.  The W7 machine will not boot with the EVM connected, and Blue Screens with the same symptoms every time I connect the EVM run time.

What is the latest revision of Pure Path Studio I can't find it.  Pressing the "Reguest" on the link:  www.ti.com/.../AICPUREPATH_STUDIO   does not work.

  • Hi, Brian,

Thanks for the feedback. USBAUDIO.sys is a Windows native driver used for the USB devices that have an audio interface, the situation with your computer makes me think that your local driver is corrupt. Do you have a different EVM that you can connect to your Win7 computer and see if the issue is replicated with a different USB-audio device?

Regarding the PurePath Studio question, you need to submit a request for in order to get access to the software, once your access is approved, you should be able to download PPS from mySecure Software site, where the latest version [5.95.35815] is available.

  • Thanks Diego.

Pressing the "Reguest" on the link: www.ti.com/.../AICPUREPATH_STUDIO does not work. It opens a window that says.

    The www.ti.com page isn’t working
www.ti.com redirected you too many times.
    ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

I have had this problem in the past. The TI Engineer ended up either sending me a direct link or issuing the request for me.
Will you help me with this?

    Regards,
    Brian
  • Hi, Brian,

Thanks for the feedback. This is an odd behavior as we have not received other reports about the request page not working. Have you tried using a different computer?. Please use this link to access directly to the request form.

If you already have access to the software, you should be able to log in TI.com and download PPS from mySecure Software page.

  • Diego,

I tried the "this link" from your post on both my XP and W7 computers and get the same "www.ti.com redirected you too many times." page isn't working. I do have a couple of revisions of PPS but would like to get the latest version. When I log into mySecure Software page, I get:

    mySecure Software
Approved requests for secure software from TI

This code is intended for your use only.
User access is granted on a per-person basis.
If someone wishes to request access, please have them contact TI.

You currently have no secure software.

I am really interested in dual microphone noise reduction.

    Regards,
    Brian
  • Brian,

Thanks for the feedback. I have tried the link in multiple computers and it is working, so I don't know what could be the issue in your end. I will check with our SW team and see if it is possible to grant you access to PPS.

The latest PurePath Studio version (Portable Audio) is 5.95.35815.

  • Thanks Diego.

I am attempting to "Request" the PPS from my PC at home and I still get the same result.  This is frustrating.

Pressing the "Reguest" on the link: www.ti.com/.../AICPUREPATH_STUDIO does not work. It opens a window that says.

    The www.ti.com page isn’t working
www.ti.com redirected you too many times.
    ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

    Please help,

    Brian Weir

  • Hi, Brian,

I am sorry to hear you are still having difficulties. This seems very strange as the PPS requests keeps coming to our audio SW team, which indicates the website is working as expected.

I will try to submit the request for you and push to approve PurePath Studio for you.

  • Diego,

I thought the problem might be something to do with my company's security policy, the last time I tried the request from my home I had the VPN to my office active.  I just tried it again from home with the VPN not active and got the same result "www.ti.com redirected you too many times".  I tried using FireFox and Chrome, so the problem is not with my work's IT or security.

Is the problem with my TI ID?  Thhis is a problem and I need TI's help correcting it.  I would think TI's IT department would be interested.

    Regards,

    Brian

  • Hi, Brian,

Thanks for the update. This is an odd behavior of the request site, as mentioned, we are still receiving requests for PPS without issues. Have you tried with a different myTI.com account?.

I actually contacted our Audio software team and approved your access to PPS, can you please check if you are able to download the software?

  • Diego,

I was able to see PPS in the mySecure Software list.  I'm confused at what to download,  I have a TLV320AIC3254EVM-K and you mentioned the latest PPS software is 5.95.35815. The options I see are:

    PurePath Console 3

    Supported Devices: *TAS2555, *TAS5404, *TAS5766M, *TAS5768M, *TAS6424, TAS5751M, TAS5733L, TAS5753MD, and generic I2C devices.

    PurePath Console 2

    Supported Devices: PCM186x, PCM5242, TAS5754M/56M, TLV320AIC3268 and TPA6166A2.

    PurePath Console 1

    Supported Devices: PCM5142, PCM5548/58, TAS5612A, TAS5721xx, TAS5729xx, TAS5731 and TAS5760xx.

I don't see AIC3254 or revision 5.95.35815.  Does this software package include the EVM initialization EPROM loading program that will run on Windows 7?

The  initialization software I have only runs on XP.  Please direct me to what I should download.

    Thanks for your help.

    Brian

  • Hi, Brian,

Thanks for the feedback. I think there was a confusion with the software that was approved for you. Your access was approved for PurePath Console, that is a SW used to configure other devices, not the 'AIC3254. I have fixed this and now you should have access to PurePath Studio now.
