Help in choosing a codec

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204, TLV320AIC3104, TLV320AIC3254, TPA2012D2, TLV320AIC3110

Our company makes equipment to find victims in the rubbles.

I would like to update the electronics in the devices.

The device works as an intercom. At one end of the headset and on the other loudspeakers with a microphone.

I need to:
1) Get very high microphone sensitivity with good AGC.
2) get sound without interference.
3) Suppress the echo from the speakers.

  • Hi,

We have several codecs in our portfolio, so in order to provide the best solution, can you please provide more details about the device you are looking for?. Information like number of channels, features such as class-D amp integrated, power supply option or processing in the device would be useful in order to provide our best recommendation. One thing to mention is that our devices does not support  on-chip echo cancellation algorithm.

In the meantime, I would recommend you to take a look to the TLV320AIC3204, if custom processing is required, TLV320AIc3254 might be considered. A simpler device would be the TLV320AIC3104.

  • At the end of the endoscope (head) I have two speakers (AS02508CO-2-WR-R).

For speakers I wanted to use TPA2012D2, but if the amplifier of class-D will be in the codec it also suits me.

It is better to use analog output for the headset.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. From the block diagram, I think our TLV320AIC3110 could be a good option. This device features a mono ADC with PGA integrated, what makes it compatible directly with mic input levels. This part integrates a Differential Stereo Class-D speaker amplifier capable of delivering up to 1.29W per channel into an 8 Ohm speaker (close to 1.4W of TPA2012D2).  In addition, a stereo  headphone driver is available in this codec as well as headset detection, making it a good fit as well for the codec in the right of your block diagram.
