TLV320AIC3106: optimized for audio question - TP3054 replacement

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC1106

IN the thread below, the TLV320AIC3106 is mentioned as being optimized for audio - what does that mean specifically?

We have another instance for replacing the TP3054 and we are looking for the best option

  • hi Steve,

The Thread you linked to is regarding the AIC1106, not the AIC3106. That being said, I dunno if I agree that the 1106 was optimized for audio and the TP3054 wasn't.
from my perspective, the AIC1106 is the logical next step from the TP3054. with focus on the personal handset/phone. (circa 2001) So power performance is improved, VCC requirements are lower.

Regarding the TLV320AIC3106 if you need the A-law compander function, that device does not have it. If that is a needed feature, consider the LM49350, or LM49352. Those are both excellent devices with lots of flexibility.

    best regards,
    -Steve Wilson
  • I did mean the TLV320AIC1106 - sorry, typo on my part. Thanks for the prompt reply!
