Hi Team,

There is application note of "TLV320DAC3100 Test for Detection of Open Loads".
Could you tell me specification (rated voltage, allowable ripple current, etc) of 220uF capacitor that is required?

  • Hi Yaita-san,

    You should select these capacitors with a voltage rate of above SPKVDD.

  • Hi Ivan-san,

    Thank you for your support.
    Regarding "allowable ripple current" of the capacitor, I believe approximately 0.8A is required if 2.5W@4ohm application.
    -------------------------------------------------------
    I^2 = P / RL = 2.5 / 4 = 0.625
    I = 0.79 (A)
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Is my understanding correct?
    If the answer is yes, my customer think it is difficult to use the capacitor that meets the requirement because of size constraint of his application.

    Yaita

  • Yaita-san,

    This might be a good reasoning of the current through the capacitor. Although the application note you shared (www.ti.com/.../slaa540b.pdf) also has some considerations for the audio volume level, is this being taken into account?

  • Hi Ivan-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
    I will inform the following to my customer as consideration.
