PCM5242: Output impedance of the PCM5242 and best resistor values to select for output amplifier application circuit

Part Number: PCM5242

Hi,

The datasheet states that the minimum load impedance for the analog outputs is 5kΩ. However the recommended application circuit (see below) has the output impedance on OUTXP as ~1.6kΩ and OUTXN as ~800Ω.

Would you please be able to advise on the best resistor values to use for the application circuit?

Thanks

Regards

Bill

  • Hi William,

You are correct, that circuit will violate the minimum load impedance specification! I will try to get that updated in the next revision of the datasheet.

I have created a quick mock-up where we use E48 series resistors (thin film recommended).  This give a gain of ~1V/V and a LPF for out of band noise.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Thanks!
