Hello audiophiles and others, In today’s market, audio is an integral part of most portable or consumer devices, be it a cell phone, an MP3 player, or a home theater system. But when you are out shopping for an audio product or device, how do you know which one is truly better or more value...

  • Forum Post: Can I use two of the same audio device on an I2C bus when they use the same address?

    Don Dapkus Don Dapkus
No, this will cause problems with the ACKs from the devices. If the device in question only has one I2C address available, then you will need to use an I2C address expander in order for it to work correctly. TI has a series of products that we developed to address (no pun intended) this problem...

  • Forum Post: If I put my I2C audio device in shutdown, will it drag my I2C bus down?

    Don Dapkus Don Dapkus
No, we use a special technique on the SDA and SCL lines to prevent the device from dragging down the bus when the device is put in shutdown or power is removed. The above applies to TPA5x, TPA6x, TPA2x, and TAS57x families. Other devices should be verified by the user.

You cannot connect the I2S DIN and DOUT signals together and achieve independent operation of the ADC and the DAC. One is used to transfer digital audio data from the uC to the codec and the other one is used to transfer digital audio data from the codec to the uC. Please check, if you are mixing up...

Hi all. I am working with the TAS5508B processor, and I am having some troubles with the communciation with it via the I2C. I am able to init it by sending a master volume value of 1, and once this is done, I can send to it some biquad filters. The filters are also executed, so I can be pretty sure...

I have an odd problem (pun intended) writing registers in Page 1 of the Codec. It originally seemed that I could not write to any odd address in Page 1. Everything works fine in Page 0. Upon further experimentation I discovered that a write to an odd address would complete after I wrote it's following...
