Can ADS1298 part be damaged if min rating of (AVDD-DVDD) is exceeded in non operational mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

The ADS1298 datasheet specifies that the difference between AVDD and DVDD should be      min - 2.1V and max 3.6V in operational mode as per the page 6 of datasheet.

Will there be a part damage if we exceed the min rating of  AVDD-DVDD (-2.1V) in ADS1298     non-operational mode to -3.3V.

  • Hi Dev,

Welcome to the TI E2E Forums!

The table on Pg 6 of the datasheet shows the normal operating conditions. If you refer to Absolute Maximum Ratings table and follow those guidelines, you will not damage the part.

The "absolute maximum rating" specifications relate both the analog and digital supplies to each other. As long as either supply is not too large (or too negative), and the ground references are within the -3V to +0.2V range, no damage should occur.

However, it is best practice would be to limit operation within the specifications given in the Electrical Characteristics table, where we test and guarantee the performance of the device.

    Best Regard,
    Chris
