Problem with ADS1282EVM-PDK board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1282EVM-PDK, ADCPRO

Hello,

I am trying to start up an ADS1282EVM-PDK and have problems.

  • Latest ADCPRO, 2.0.1Build 4
  • Latest drivers, downloaded from TI toady
  • Provided 6V external power supply connected
  • EVM: ADS1282EVM 2.0.0.0

When I start up the software I see these status messages:

  • Reading Binary file
  • Downloading binary file
  • USB connection established
  • Download successful
  • DSP not ready...retrying
  • Popup "The firmware load has failed due to connection timeout..."
  • EVM/HW incompatible

I only have the 6V supply connected. Are any of the other supplies required to start up the board or is this a DSP error?

The main board has BOM revision D. The J13 jumpers do not look exactly like in the manual and there is no S4 USB / ROM switch.

It says in the manual "Set jumper J4 low to indicate that the EVM board is an ADS1282EVM." but I guess this is S4, not J4 as J4 is the connector to the sub-board.

I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

Am I doing something wrong or is the board fried?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Jan,

See section 9.3.3 in the ADS1282EVM User's Guide. This EVM also requires that you connect +/- 10V supplies to the MMB0 for it to function.

On MMB0 REV D, make sure jumper J13A is REMOVED/DISCONNECTED when you do this!! (Otherwise, the +10V and +5V supplies will be shorted together.)

Since you're using REV D of the MMB0 board, there is no S4 USB/ROM switch. Instead, this is hard wired on this MMB0 revision.
Also, jumper J4 on the ADS1282EVM should also be hard wired to correctly indicate the installed device.

    Best Regards,
    Chris
