MPC506 mux

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MUX509, MUX508

Hi everyone,

I have problem with MUX MPC 506. I need to process analog signals coming from 9 sensor. How should I desgn a circuit for obtaining 9 data one by one at output of MUX?

Regards

  • Alasgarzade,

Before directly addressing your questions I want to mention that we have recently released some analog multiplexers MUX508 and MUX509. I suggest considering these new devices as they have modern packages and other benefits compared to the older devices.

    To answer your question:

This is a 16 to 1 multiplexer, so you could connect as many as 16 sensors to the input and get one output. Since you are only using 9 sensors, you can leave the other inputs floating (or ground them). On the digital control lines you will need to count from binary 0000 to 1000 (0 to 8 decimal). Each different binary count will select a different sensor. Counting above 8 will select the floating inputs, so you should avoid this.

Let me know if this helps, or if you have additional questions. Note that the MUX508 and MUX509 have TINA SPICE models. You can use the model to simulate the MUX and gain a better understanding of it’s operation. TINA is a free program that can be downloaded using the link below.
