Any analog to time converters?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC7200

Hi all,

I want to implement dithering on TDC7200, I am wondering if there is any voltage/current to time converter I can use? Thanks.

Regards,

Eric

  • Eric,

I don't know of any specific time to analog voltage converters. However, you can make this function yourself with a known current source filling a capacitor. The voltage increases linearly with time (as long as the capacitive voltage coefficient is small).

There may be errors in absolute accuracy depending on the error in the current source and the capacitive value, but it should be a viable solution.

  • Hi Joseph,

    Thanks for the reply.

Maybe I didn't explain my question clearly enough. What I am looking for is an analog to time converter. I want to make an input pulse signal delay for a configurable period of time (about 100 pico-second resolution), and the delay is controlled by current or voltage or digital input. Is this doable?

  • Eric,

Ok, I think I understand. You want a programmable (either analog or digital input) delay element for a pulse.

I don't think we have anything similar to that. I've seen delay elements for gating, but I don't know of anything that may help. Additionally, 100ps resolution is pretty hard to achieve for any system.
