Is the DAC8532 Cascadable?

  • Roberto,

I'm not sure precisely what is meant by "cascadable". Maybe you can clarify if I don't answer the question...

We usually would consider two possible modes of operation as far as interfacing these parts go; multiple parts "in parallel" with individual chip-select (or SYNC in this case) but shared SCLK and DATA lines (SCLK and Din in this case). In this case all devices see all clocks and data, but the latching mechanism is controlled by the individual CS lines so they only "listen" when they're supposed to.

The other option we usually call "daisy-chain" where all of the parts share one CS line and share the same SCLK and DATA lines. The parts are chained together sort of "in series" now where they reproduce the value seen on SDI on their SDO pins, as you go down the chain the SDO of the lead device is connected to the SDI of the following device.

DAC8532 does not have a serial data output line, therefore daisy-chain operation is not possible. The only option would be using multiple CS lines.
