Looking for ADC with USB interface

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2900B, OPT101

I was asked to build an interface board to connect some scientific equipment (for me, light sensor - OPT101 and temperature sensor LM135Z) to a personal computer to acquire measurements results via USB. Signal properties were following: two channels with a common ground, 1 second of acquisition time, max 5V signal level. Desired digitizing properties were about 1000 samples per acquisition, 10 bit depth. I’m looking for single chip solution to digitize signal from two channels and send it to PC via USB interface. After a careful research in a Texas Instruments product line it was found PCM2900B chip. It has a stereo input (it will give me two channel ADC), USB interface and MS Windows drivers already shipped with an OS. But I am embarrassed that this is Audio USB. Could you suggest single chip ADC with USB interface that suits my needs or MCU with ADC and USB interface (like PIC18F2550 in MICROCHIP product line)?

  • Hi Alex,

Try taking a look at the Stellaris processors, something like the LM3S3651 might suit your needs.  We have MSP430 processors with USB and ADC capability as well.  From the Precision Analog side of things, we do not have any stand alone ADC's that feature a USB interface.
