ADS1298: ECG_DSUB_CHASIS-DGND

Part Number: ADS1298

Hi,

As seen in below image, We have chasis (pin 16 & 17) of our 15 Pin DSUB used for ECG connected to "Chasis GND" which inturn is connected to "Digital GND" by a jumper.

On our next revision we want to connect chasis (pin 16 & 17) of our 15 Pin DSUB directly to "Digital GND" and avoid the jumper inbetween.

Will this be an issue in terms of Defib test (High voltage or creepage & clearence test) or emi/emc?

Thanks in Advance,

Regards,

Rahul

  • Hello Rahul,

    Thanks for your post!

Do you have an analog ground as well?

As it is currently connected I imagine that the return currents are going directly to chassis ground and there is very little activity from chassis ground to digital ground through the jumper. You could test this with the jumper removed, however I do not know what your other digital ground to chassis ground connections are like.

In general, as long as the analog return path does not cross sensitive digital traces and vice versa, there should not be an issue.
