Data generation TSW3100(1400) and two TSW3085EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW3085EVM, DAC3482

I want to know TSW1400(or TSW3100) can generate each different 16bit-DDR LVDS data.

I have two TSW3085 EVMs.

TSW1400(or TSW3100 ) can generate two different 16bit LVDS data for two TSW3085 EVMs simultaneously?

  • Janghong,

The TSW1400 supports two different 16-bit DDR LVDS data. This is to primarily support the DAC34H84 so that TX1 (Channel AB) can have different data than TX2 (channel CD).

The TSW1400 can only connect to one DAC EVM at a time. To support two EVMs simultaneously, you will need to create an adapter yourself.

Also, the TSW1400 cannot support two TSW3085 (with two DAC3482) since it does not have extra DATACLK and FRAME signal to support the 2nd DAC3482

You will need to modify the firmware or external hardware slightly to support this. Also, we do not have adapter boards that can split the bus to connect to two EVMs at the same time. You will need to account for this in your design/project.

  • Hi KH.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Actually, our test configuration is TSW1400(pattern gen.)+ TSW3085EVM+ TSW3482EVM
    .

And DATACLK and FRAME signal will be shared between 3085 and 3482.

Is it ok?  and we are going to make custorm adapter board.

Pleas check the adapter schematic attached.

  • Hello,

The signals besides DATACLK and FRAME look fine. For the DAC3482, the LVDS receivers on the LVDS bus have 100ohm on-chip termination. By sharing the same DATACLK or FRAME signal with two DAC3482 LVDS receiver, the effective termination will be reduced, thus reduce LVDS swing. This may also affect signal integrity. This was my concern in the first place.

You may need to include a LVDS fan out buffer to buffer the DATACLK/FRAME from the TSW1400 to the DAC3482's. The fan-out buffer need to have minimal propagation delay to not affect setup/hold time at high speed data transfer rate.

  • Hi Kang.

I'm a Mr. choi's fellow and have a question about the above solution.

We made an attached board and opperated the TSW1400 evm with DAC3482 evm & TSW3085 evm.

As a result of this experiment, we found the difference of sync between DAC3482 evm & TSW3085 evm output signals.

We need the output signals with same sync between 2 evm output to apply the ET application.

How can I adjust the sync between them?

Is it possible to solve this problem by changing gui setting?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Woo,

To achieve multiple devices synchronization among the DAC348x family, you will need to configure the DAC348x in dual sync sources mode. The following app note describes the procedures:
