can i used dural channels as both Q channels on ADC08D1520RB ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC08D1520

Based on the user guide both of 2 Q channels of the reference board are connected with 2 terminals. Does that mean they cannot be used and signals can be only fed in 2 I channels, in dual channel mode?

Thank you!

  • Hello Bridget,

    The ADC08D1520 has 2 differential inputs, I and Q.

When used in Non-DES mode, both inputs are capturing their own respective data that is then streamed on the DI/DId and DQ/DQd outputs. You can refer to the timing diagrams on page 22 of the datasheet to see how this data is formatted. This would be acting like a dual channel ADC and it sounds like this is how you intend to use the device.

If you use the device in one of the DES modes, DESQ for example, then the I channel inputs are connected through a mux internally to the Q channel and interleaved to get an effective 2x sample rate. This would be acting like a single channel ADC, but with 2x the speed.
