CDCE62005 Input Reference

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005, DAC34SH84, DAC3484

Hello,

I have problem in CDCE62005 configuration -

1. Reading CDCE62005 manual I came to know that There are three options to select the input clock 1. PRI_REF 2. SEC_REF 3. AUX IN

2. But in DAC34SH84 GUI in CDCE input settings following are the options:
              1. X
              2. Manual_PRI_IN
              3. Manual_SEC_IN
              4. Manual_AUX_IN

              5. Auto_PRI_SEC
              6. Auto_PRI_SEC_AUX

3. Do I have to give external input to the DAC board ? or I can get some fixed frequency input to cdce by selecting given options?

4. How to make VCO range in 1.750 GHz to 2.356 GHz.

  • Pramod,

    Regarding your questions:
    1. These are different Smart MUX settings. You can allow the Smart Mux to auto select different input options (i.e. in case of clock input loss and you have multiple sources for redundancy), or you can manually force the synthesizer to look at only one input.
    2. The DAC board user's manual default start-up requires external clock input at the J9 connector. You may refer to EVM User's Guide for detail:www.ti.com/.../slau432.pdf
    3. You can do so through the VCO select bit and VCO cal bits in register 6. I am assuming you are refer to the CDCE62005 VCO instead of the DAC3484 on-chip VCO.
