Latency in Hi Speed DACs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3162

We need a 500MSPS DAC with low latency, defined as the delay between a data word received at the parallel interface and the output of that word (in analog form) at the output of the DAC. Most of TI's DACs in this speed range appear to have latency of 25usec, which seems very long for a 500MHz clocked part. On the DAC3162, we note that the Latency is listed as 1.5 DAC clock cycles, or 3nsec at 500MHz. This seems very fast compared to the other DACs. Our specification is for a system delay of less than 100nsec total, of which the DAC cannot use more than 75nsec or so (the less the better). Can you comment?
