TSW38J84 EVM - SPI Configuration

Hi all,

We bought TSW38J84 EVM REV B board. As a initial step we tried to read the LMK & DAC Registers through GUI Mode. We are able to connect the EVM board successfully. The register read Value is always 0xFF.

    Vishu,

    I believe you meant the LMK and DAC registers were read unsuccessfully. You will need to first reset the DAC and LMK with the reset command first on the main GUI tab, and then perform read-back.

    Hi kang,
    Thank you for the feedback.

    We are able to read only DAC registers after reset.

    But LMK registers & TRF 3722 are showing 0xFF. If we do reset in LMK main GUI, the reset check box is always in reset.
    There are NO reset for TRF3722 in GUI.

    Thank you for the feedback.

    After doing reset and enabling 4-wire mode, we are able to readback DAC registers. But still facing issues in LMK and TRF3722 register readback.

    Note: If we tried to read LMK its showing 0xFF and if we read TRF3722 its showing 0x0.

    Hi kang,

    To proceed further we tried to program the TSW device using the QUICK Start menu. Here are our configuration

    1) Clock Mode - Internal
    2) DAC input rate - 491.52 MHz
    3) Lane - 8 and interpolation - 2
    4) DAC Output rate - 983.04
    5) RF Target - 1966.08 Mhz
    6) In J17, we are feeding 122.88 Mhz clock source.

    Then we program the LMK/DAC/TRF3722. After programming the devices we go and check the status.
    1) We found the LMK is PLL1 and PLL2 are locked.
    2) DAC PLL is NOT locked. This is expected as the DAC PLL is not used.
    3) TRF 3722 is NOT LOCKED
    4) JESD Status: Even though if we dint connect EVM to any of the boards, the alarm status is not showing GREEN.
    5) LMK & TRF3722 register readback is not working.
