Arria 10 + TI ADC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW14J57EVM, ADC32RF42

Hi TI Experts,

I have customer that will be using the Altera Arria 10 FPGA.

They also need the ADC. Thus, we proposed the TSW14J56EVM.

But our customer has some inquiries as below:

  • Can this EVM work with Arria 10GX FPGA Dev Kit thru FMC Connector?
  • Can it be configured to support 2 lanes of ADC?
  • Any reference design to demonstrate interoperability of Arria 10 GX Dev Kit and TSW14J56 Evaluation Module?

> Can your side suggest any TI ADC that able to interface with the Altera Arria 10 Development board?

Thanks,

Br,

  • Hi,

The TSW14J56 is an Arria V based capture card - it is meant to be used to capture ADC data and provide patterns for the DAC EVMs.

There are no ADC or DACs on the TSW14J56 EVM.

Do you have a specific ADC or DAC in mind?

All of our ADC and DAC EVMs with the JESD204B interface will connect to the TSW14J56 EVM - FMC connector. This is Arria 5 based. We do have a TSW14J57 EVM which just recently released based on the Arria 10. This will also support our ADC and DAC EVMs - the TSW14J57 has an FMC+ connector which will also support our 16L devices.

The Megacore JESD204B IP we are using on the Arria 5 and Arria 10 platforms works with our converters as demonstrated by the evaluation platform. Although we do not have specific inter-operability documents for each device/lanerate/transport layer configuration, we can say they work as expected.

Let us know which ADC you plan on using and we can suggest the appropriate platform.

    Ken.
  • Hi Ken,

    Thank for the info.

I already propose to customer and they are interested in the TSW14J57EVM since their platform is using the Arria 10 FPGA.

In the meantime, do TI has the Arria 10 Quartus II project source code used on TSW14J57 EVM?

They also plan to use the ADC as below spec:

    > Sample rate ~1.2Gbps

    > 14 bit resolution

    > 2 channels input

Currently they are looking at Analog Device solution AD9680.

From the spec, i found that this part ADC32RF42 is very suitable for their application and spec.

But the part is still in preview stage. May i know when the part will be Active and Release? What is the estimated price for this too? (i can't find it at TI website and ESP.

     Thanks,
