LDC1000 GUI Disconnect

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1000EVM

Hi

When I change value of configration, GUI can not connect the EVM.
When the configuration of GUI was changed, the EVM became impossible to connect to a COM port.
I tried to reinstall GUI and restart PC, but  a situation does not improve.
How does the GUI operate again?

Regards,
PAN-M

  • Hi PAN-M,

Do you remember the parameter that was changed?  The GUI will always detect the EVM if it has the appropriate firmware version (for GUI version 1.0.4.1 it is firmware version 0.3.0.0).  Try checking your device manager or "devices and printers".  You should see the device enumerated by windows as "EVM (COM#)".  Starting from 0.3.0.0 onwards, the board LED will display the status of enumeration.  It should be green.

    Thanks,

  • Thank you for reply.

    This is setting parameter;

I tried the same setup to other PCs, there was no such problem.
The problem PC is DELL XPS13,and  not problem pc is Lenovo.
    I want reinstall this GUI.
Isn't there any dll file or information file which remains by uninstallation?
    Can't I remove manually?

And I will check your comment.

    Regards,
    PAN-M

  • Hi PAN-M,

It seems that your settings, if they are for the EVM coil, are corrupt.  Please change the settings to:

Your INTB setting should be DRDY, Power Mode should be Active, and RpMin and RpMax should be encompassing the range of your coil.

Alternatively, you could load a settings file:

    4113.default_settings.csv

Then, click "Save Values as Defaults". This will store the settings in the physical EVM.

    Thanks,

  • Thank you for support.

I can not change these value because disconnect state.
And, If I try to load a CSV file, an error will occur.
"Cannot read file xxxx.csv Invalid data"

    Regards,
    PAN-M

  • What does the device show up as when it's connected to your computer?  It should be "EVM (COM#)".  Please check under "Devices and Settings" or "Device Manager"

    Thanks,

  • It recognize by COM18 which posted first picture.
Also device manager and GUI is same too.
Probably, I think a certain configuration file or registry is remain.
Isn't there any necessity of deleting file or setting parameter manually?

    Regards,
    PAN-M

  • Hi PAN-M,

What does it show up as? "EVM" or "LDC1000EVM".  If it shows up as "LDC1000EVM" you need to force install the driver:

    ---------------------------------------------

Windows should install the right drivers if you install the new drivers through the GUI installer and restart your system *without* the device plugged in.  If this does not work, however, there is a way to do this manually by accessing the device manager, selecting LDC1000EVM, and installing the driver in the application installation folder /driver (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments LDC1000EVM GUI\driver" ).  The driver filename should be "evm.inf".

    1. To do this on Windows 7, select "Devices and Printers".

    2. right click "LDC1000EVM (COM#)" > Properties > Hardware Tab > Properties > Change settings

    3. Driver Tab > Update Driver... > Browse my computer for driver software

    4. Enter the location of the application installation subfolder "driver"

    5. Continue on with the dialog and finish

    6. Your device should show up as "EVM" instead of "LDC1000EVM"

    ---------------------------------------------

If it shows up as "EVM" and it's still not working your firmware might be out date.  Start up the GUI.  On your EVM, short +5V and LDCLK temporarily while plugging it into USB.  Open the short.  Then:

In the GUI try using Tools > Flash Firmware.  After a couple seconds you should see "1 device(s) in BSL found."  Then, select "Open..." and navigate to the firmware subfolder of the application installation directory.  Select "LDC1000 Firmware 0x300.txt."  Press "Update"

    ---------------------------------------------

    Thanks,

  • The display of device driver is EVM.
When setting up as your comment, the EVM worked.
However, if GUI is restart, I have to carry out Flash Firmware again.
    Can't I save this state?

    Regards,
    PAN-M

  • Hi PAN-M,

Can you explain more clearly what is happening?  You should only have to flash firmware once.  The firmware, once it is on the microcontroller, will not change.

    Thanks,

  • Charles-san

When GUI is started first, GUI is Disconnect state.
    / Execute Flash Firmware.
/ Set parameter to User's Guide value
    / GUI works
    / close GUI
    / open GUI
    GUI is Disconnect state.
If Flash Firmware is executed once again, it will work again.
    This state is repeated.

    PAN-M

  • Hi PAN-M,

When you set the parameters, do you click "save values as defaults"?

When you close and open the GUI, do you reconnect the EVM as well?

    Thanks,

  • Charies-san

When you set the parameters, do you click "save values as defaults"?
    ->Yes

When you close and open the GUI, do you reconnect the EVM as well?
    ->Yes
->reconnect EVM, turn off and turn on PC...

It is set to Disconnect also in the any state.

    Now setting is;

  • Hi PAN-M,

Can you check to make sure there is no physical short between +5V and LDCLK?  If LDCLK is pulled up to +5V on POR then the microcontroller behavior is to enter BSL mode, which is why your device does not show up properly, since it enumerates as a BSL device ("USB Input Device").

    Thanks,

  • Charies-san

    This board was broken!
Probably, when the pull-up test of LDCLK was done, this EVM will destroyed.
    Another EVM was worked.

    Thanks and Regards,
    PAN-M

  • I'm glad we found the issue!  Let us know if there are any problems in the future.

    Thanks,

  • Hi ,I have a problem,can you help me!

why the value of inductance if “ inf uH”?

    the configuration :

    thank you!

  • Hello,

    That's a very good question.

We have never seen this before, and I was unable to reproduce it.

Could you please describe all the steps you went through to get INF reading, starting with GUI start or connecting the EVM to your PC, whichever was 1st.

As a solution, most likely, power-cycle of the EVM and restart of the GUI will fix it.
