I've got an application in need of 32 channels of at least 100 ksps 8/10/12 bit conversion. I've looked at the ADS79xx family and could use four of the 8 channel variants running at 125 ksps per channel. I'm wondering if there are any 16 channel parts with dual ADC modules that can handle what two of the ADS79xx chips can.
Hi Mike,
The ADS7xx family is your best bet at the moment from the products we currently have in production. We do not have any dual ADC parts with more than 2 differential or 4SE inputs that have the sample rate you are looking for. If we had a dual ADC with 16 channels, would you be able to deal with two serial outputs? One acting as an SPI slave while the other was an SPI master from your host processor?
Regards,
Tom
This application uses an FPGA to interface to the ADCs and handle DSP operations, so yes it could definitely utilize a part like you describe. In general I think a design using a processor capable of handling this quantity of information would have access to two SPI ports so it does sound like a part of interest.
